In 2016 we were also fortunate to be awarded funding to work with partners SABR in Uzbekistan the project “Tackling Gender Imbalance and Economic Empowerment Of Women In Uzbekistan” was successfully delivered.   The project supported vulnerable women and girls from rural areas to gain skills and confidence to enter employment or self-employment and to assist in developing” their own enterprise.  It is a key area of the Uzbek Government to support small to medium size enterprise and the opportunity to empower women to have financial freedom was a key element.  The establishment of 3 Learning and Development Centres was key to the success of 94 young women and girls who improved their vocational and business skills.  The project was funded by the British Embassy in Tashkent and  delivered  by URU Connect in partnership and the Social Economic Development centre SABR, Samarkand City, Uzbekistan.

URU Connect shared its experience of supporting women entrepreneurs from hard-to-reach background in the UK and supported the development of the Business and Leadership Programme for female entrepreneurs “Create your own business” in Uzbekistan.
