The Domestic Violence Conference held on the 23rd March 2017 was attended by over 80 people from public and NGO sector. It was opened by Deputy Minister of Social Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Shapovalov and Martin Fener, Consul General of Great Britain in Ekaterinburg. The conference was chaired by Ludmila Ermakova, director of the Crisis Centre “Ekaterina” and chair of the coalition of the Crisis Centres. Following research and exchange visits the newly developed Domestic Violence Service Standards were presented and shared with professionals.
URU Connect presented British experience of developing and implementing standards on Domestic Violence in the UK.
At a previous conference held in 2016 and opened by Human Rights Representative Marzliakova TG a competition for children was displayed to depict “Peace in the world starts at home” 540 pictures where collected across the region and winners received a certificate.
Many programmes are run now throughout Europe within schools to educate young people about the problems that domestic violence has on the family and the individuals involved. We were pleased to have input to the event, many questions were raised from the floor to all presenters.
112 participants attended from Education, Police, Social Workers and local NGO’s.
